Barks Adoption Policy

BARKS has many wonderful pets available for adoption.

All our pets are spayed, neutered, microchipped and up to date on rabies and distemper vaccines. All cats are tested for feline aids and feline leukemia; all dogs are heartworm tested. BARKS strongly discourages the declawing of our cats but we usually have already-declawed cats available for adoption (identified by a green pawprint on the Petfinder listing).

Our screening and adoption process:

Our screening process consists of a written application, including a veterinary reference where applicable, and a personal interview. At our discretion, a visit to the prospective home may be required. All pets are accepted for return if the pet is not adjusting well at the home. We hold adoption days at various locations within Sussex county. Please check the calendar on our homepage for upcoming dates.

Adoption fees:

Fees include current vaccines, spay/neuter surgery, heartworm test for dogs and microchip.
Adoption fees will be posted at the adoption locations.
